PRIVILEGE (n).
Those who feel they are unaffected, or "privileged", tend to ignore the problem, and their actions are subsequently affecting everyone on a national scale. Solutions solve problems, and racial inequality is one of these problems without a solution. People may say the solution is simple, but if that is true, why haven't we solved the problem then? This isn't rhetorical either, I want answers, you want answers, everyone wants answers. But we cannot find answers when those of privilege refuse to search for these answers and/or refuse to even admit the presence of a problem.

A study of blame, choice, and values; a story told by Jay Heinrichs in his book, "Thank You for Arguing". This video, however, focuses on each of these aspects in their own way. The video focuses on blame in a passive way, blaming those who stereotype the people in the video, before they know their story. BLAME is focused on in a "forensic standpoint"(30), and also threatens punishment. The punishment proposed isn't physical however, it leans more towards repercussions for the rest of the population, as you are essentially choosing to allow racism to continue. Another aspect, VALUE, is demonstrated in the video as a way to bond people together. It plans to bring people together, based on the simple moral that everyone desires to be treated equal, and thus should treat others this same way. The last aspect, CHOICE, is possibly the most obvious to recognize in the video, and also the most important. Blame and Values only get you so far, but giving a choice allows everyone to take action. The video promises a payoff, so to speak, for everyone: equality. Regardless of race, we are all fighting for something, and people of privilege need to join the fight, the good fight. We need to realize there is a problem collectively, realize we are all on the same team, and ultimately realize that there are solutions for this problem, but that it will take all of us to achieve it. "We are only as strong as our weakest link", and right now, that link is those of privilege and such that are ignoring the problem at end.
"Would you rather be the root of the PROBLEM, or part of the SOLUTION?"
